I am beginning to realize that being a Glamour Magazine Glambassador has its perks.  Last week I received a surprise package in the mail containing an advance copy of the new Glamour Cookbook!  My assignment - try it out...and tell YOU about it!

Have you heard of the magic powers of a roasted chicken?  No?  Well, let me introduce you to Engagement Chicken...a simple dish that has been responsible for over 60 engagements so far, proving that yes indeed, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.  Although I would also venture to guess that when a relationship is at the point of a woman committing to roasting a chicken for a man, marriage may be the next logical step.  Roasting a chicken takes more patience and attention than any man requires.

Either way - cooking is most certainly a way to build bonds, learn A LOT about how someone was brought up, and test each other's skills at following directions, minus the Ikea screwdriver and oh-so-helpful pictures.  Cindi Leive, editor-in-chief of Glamour Magazine, has created a cookbook titled, 100 recipes Every Woman Should Know - Engagement Chicken and 99 Other Fabulous Dishes to Get You Everything You Want in Life. 

Since my husband and I are set to celebrate our 10th wedding Anniversary this year, I selected a slightly different menu to try than Engagement Chicken...check out my No Guy Required Grilled Steak

Of course we start with a cocktail:
The Glamour Gimlet

Cucumber Gimlet by Charlie Palmer: Gin, Cucumber, Simple Syrup, and Lime.
A bit like a spa treatment in a glass - refreshing and it makes a pitcher so you aren't playing bartender all night. 
(Tip: Serve this VERY cold - makes a big difference in the taste.)

VOILA: Dinner Is Served!
No Guy Required Grilled Steak

Grilled Flank Steak Marinated in Ginger, Sesame, and Soy
Seriously Simple - Marinate meat for 4 hours (2 lbs served 6 people), Cook on a medium hot grill for 8 minutes, let it rest for 10 minutes - DONE!
